Selected Interview Bits About Animalism

You are very active in animal rights. Living Trash, on your new CD, is about as militantly anti-vivisection as you can get. Could you talk about how that aspect of your life interacts with and is influenced by your spiritual life?
I have a very spiritual connection to animals... I experience many moments where I really connect with an animal. Animals are truly connected to the great universe and I feel they sense that I respect them and meet them on their level. Animals really make me feel happy and I don't understand how one cannot be kind to them. A lot of people have no respect for animals and their needs. They use them or abuse them, or just march right up to them and play with them as if they were toys. They are unable to communicate with them. And well, often it is those kind of people that have no respect for animals or think they are so much more valuable than animals that express really low behaviour. Because I think if you cannot respect the lives around you, you do not have much self-respect (and don't really deserve to walk among us if you ask me... but hey, that's just what I think).
I am very in touch with my inner animal, my instincts, my senses and I think it really are the basic instincts that bring you to a higher level of awareness...

Tell us about your own pets.
I have a dog, a very pretty white whippet, called Sirius. I always get racing-hound breeds, like greyhounds, salukis, afghans and whippets. They are very special and loving animals and their weird, yet noble, character suits me very well. And I think it is utterly disgusting that racing greyhounds are treated so ghastly. This gruesome "sport" must stop!
I also have one special white cat called Morphia and one witchy little black cat called Belladonna. I am also working on getting myself a white horse soon. As with all things in my life, also my animals are important to me in their appearance, nature and colours... and thus I choose them carefully. And often they find me. I also choose their names carefully.
